Last month, Milan decided to bring in Mario Mandzukic on a free transfer to strengthen the centre-forward position. Although the Croatian made his first appearance quite early, he will have to wait for his full debut.
Coming on against Atalanta and Bologna, Mandzukic has played 27 minutes for his new side and it’s clear he needs more time in training to reach top condition. Above all, though, he needs time on the pitch to regain match form.
As highlighted by MilanNews, however, he will have to wait for his full debut as Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are ahead of him in the pecking order. That is, for the left-wing and centre-forward role.
Leao and Ibrahimovic are expected to start against Crotone tomorrow and Mandzukic could get some minutes off the bench. It remains to be seen when he will make his first start for the club, perhaps in the Europa League.
