MN: Milan evaluating two options for midfield role – Chelsea man or youth product

By Isak Möller -

Milan have already brought in some reinforcements but their mercato isn’t over just yet, with a few positions still to be filled. As Soualiho Meite has concluded his loan spell, the Rossoneri need a new fourth-choice midfielder.

With the likes of Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali at Stefano Pioli’s disposal, it might not sound like much of a priority. However, the former two will take part in the AFCONs next year and will thus miss a few games.

As highlighted by MilanNews, evaluations are currently ongoing at Casa Milan with two options in mind: Tiemoue Bakayoko or Tommaso Pobega. The former, as we know, has already been at the club and would like to make a return.

Pobega spent last season on loan at Spezia and impressed a lot, showing that he has what it takes to play at Serie A level. Although Bakayoko arriving doesn’t necessarily mean the Italian would leave, the latter wouldn’t get enough playing time if so.

  1. You do both realise, that not only they do NOT have similar characteristics, they don’t even play the same possition!

It’s Elliott’s advertising trick to convice us that “we do support our youth talents” in order not to spend on a DM.

Good luck playing Juventus, Lazio and Inter (Yes all 3, and in that order) on January with Kessie and Bennacer absents for the Copa Africa…

  2. no need to spend. trust in pobega.
maldini just need to bring a good rw and am in this mercato. to complete the midfield.

  3. Milan can sign bakayoko next year, with the expired of his contract with chelsea
Gave pobega minutes play, i think he can do lots for us
