MN: Milan forced to play without Ibrahimovic yet again – priority for summer is clear

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off in the clash between Milan and Parma last night and he will miss at least one match as a result of it. Yet again, therefore, the Rossoneri will be without their star striker.

As highlighted by Matteo Calcagni of MilanNews, the sending off was unjustified based on the TV images but that doesn’t change the situation. Against Genoa, Stefano Pioli will have to rely on Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao or Mario Mandzukic.

The hope is that the No.9 will have recovered in time for the game, which is possible since he was on the bench last night. For next season, though, it’s hard to imagine Mandzukic at the club although there is a renewal clause in his contract.

Instead of focusing on the flanks, Milan should make the centre-forward role their priority this summer. They have suffered a lot due to Ibrahimovic’s absence this season and they don’t want to find themselves in the same situation next campaign, which is why the signing of a striker is crucial.
