MN: Milan have three-man shortlist for defence – price tags from €15-30m

Following the game against Monza last night, it’s clear that Milan need a new centre-back before the season starts. Leo Duarte has failed to impress and the Rossoneri now need to act on the transfer market.

According to MilanNews.it, Milan have three players on their shortlist for the centre-back position: Nikola Milenkovicand German Pezzella of Fiorentina, as well as Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana. The price tags range from €15-30m.

Nikola Milenkovic (born in 1997, expiring in 2022) is valued at €40m by the Tuscan side, but realistically his value doesn’t exceed €30m. The contract situation has to be considered and the deal could be favoured by Fali Ramadani.

The agent, who has met Milan frequently as of late, also handles the interests of Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic. Milenkovic could be the ideal investment, representing the right balance between age, experience and quality.

Pezzella is the other Fiorentina man on the Rossoneri’s list (born in 1991, expiring in 2022) and the captain’s value doesn’t exceed €15m. Stefano Pioli knows him very well but the age could be a hard one to justify.

The player that best reflects Elliott’s philosophy, however, Wesley Fofana (born in 2000, expiring in 2024). Saint-Etienne value the youngster at no less than €30m, a figure that Milan would need to lower to make a move.
