MN: Milan must demonstrate their maturity – Pioli expects a reaction with Ibra and Kjaer’s help

By Oliver Fisher -

After seeing their 24-game unbeaten run in all competitions ended by a 3-0 home defeat to Lille, Sunday provides a chance to get back on track.

As MilanNews notes, everyone knew that sooner or later a defeat would come, but the important thing now is that it is proven to just be a misstep and not the start of some deeper issues and struggles.

Milan will welcome Hellas Verona to San Siro on Sunday and will immediately have the opportunity to demonstrate that they are better than what they showed against their French opponents.

In recent months Milan have been practically unbeatable despite the low average age of their squad while Stefano Pioli often highlighted the maturity that his players have developed, in no small part down to the experience added through Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer.

Now, it is time for the squad to prove him right. The Milan coach therefore immediately expects a reaction from his players and for the league unbeaten run to continue, but Verona will not be an easy game.

A fundamental role will be played by the aforementioned Kjaer and Ibrahimovic: Pioli will rely above all on them to give tranquility and serenity to an environment not used to losing.
