There is a fair bit of doom and gloom surrounding AC Milan at the moment given their current form and the prospect of finishing outside the top four, but the recent renewal success needed highlighting.
MilanNews confirm that Milan will announce the renewal of Rafael Leao’s contract until 30 June 2028 next week, with the will of the player and the club clear for some time and the complicated situations involved after a long period of negotiations.

Leao has always said he was grateful to coach Pioli, as he remarked after the second leg against Napoli: “Pioli is the person who made me the player I am today. He was patient, he took my hand like a son. I have to thank him and also the directors Massara and Maldini who made me the player I am today. Here at Milan I am at home and I am very happy to be here.”
Maldini and Massara have found an agreement with Leao and his entourage over a deal worth €5m net per season plus bonuses, with his release clause rising to €175m. CEO Giorgio Furlani helped mediate the discussions over the fine owed to Sporting CP with Lille, too.
The management continue to lay the foundations of the project but also strengthen the pillars already in place too. Maldini and Massara have got renewals for Gabbia, Pobega, Krunic, Theo Hernandez, Tonali, Bennacer, Kalulu, Tomori, Giroud and Ibrahimovic done since the start of last year.
Milan’s revenues are growing and consequently investments are also growing to keep all the players considered essential for a successful future in the squad. Below are the renewals done in the last 14 months:

Where is @Poli? According to whom, Maldini is poor in negation? Just because, his ex boyfriends Donnarumma and Calhanoglu, left Milan..🤣😁
Negotiation*
I am right here @Milan fan.
Are you really bragging about Maldini negotiating skills?
Look at the names on that list sir.
Gabbia, Milan youth product, that plays almost as much as you & me.
Theo, 👍
Zlatan, the man played 2 games all season long and is 41
Pobega, Milan youth product, barely plays and is nothing more than a 3rd stringer.
Tomori, 6th choice CB at Chelsea, and now we see why, spent 35 mil on him when no one wanted him.
Krunic, nothing but a backup.
Tonali 👍
Pioli, ha ha 😂, great negotiating skills to sign Pioli. Who probably will be fired.
Kalulu, good signing but a backup,
Bennacer, back up, plays 1 good month a season, the rest he is either Injured or trash.
Giroud, 36 years old.
There are only 2 starters there but you brag about Maldini skills.
And maybe one day you will understand that people that mention Hakan, Kessie, Donnarumma, Romagnoli, is not because they are great and Milan can’t do without them, ITS BECAUSE THEY LEFT AND MILAN GOT NOTHING, NO MONEY IN RETURN FOR THEM. ZERO NADA, ZILCH.
And this is an embarrassing article by MilanNews, “safeguarding the project” and they actually put the players names ha ha 😂. Look at the names , outside of 2 the rest can find hard time playing for Bologna. 2 of them are 80 years old combined. What project?
What has happened to our Milan and the standards set by the former Greats?
BtW they forgot the great Saelemakers.
Maybe one day @Milan fan, when you grow up and stop being a fanboy of another person, you will have the ability to objectively assess Maldini’s ability to run this big club. Until then stay blessed brother but I hope you have higher standards for our Milan than the mediocrity of Maldini the director
Yes that’s great.
When you write Biblical posts.
Bring some cash and than make a team of superstars. With the money Ac provided to technical directors they did miracle with rosters.
Oh so you are right here.. I am not, bragging about Maldini’s negotiation skills! I just, want to give the credit, where it’s due! You are being ignorant again.. So? Tomori, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer etc aren’t good players? Your timeline, is struck in Donnarumma, Calhanoglu! While failing, to acknowledge that he tried to renew, their contracts but it was players decision to leave! Why don’t you understand, this simple thing? Do you want me, to give the list of valuable players, who left their clubs as a free agent?
Once you said that “Giroud will leave, Milan come end of the season, cause we all know Maldini’s negotiation power” so? Now that he, has renewed Giroud, he is 36 years old! There lies the hypocrisy..
As I wrote yesterday.
All of the Maldini fanboys that celebrate mediocrity, excuse his failures, praise resigning of geriatric and bench players, while starters left for free, all of you deserve to watch Milan in the Europa league instead of the UCL.
Then again, based on the standings and our form , Europa league spot also might be in jeopardy.
Keep celebrating and praising him.
I still can’t believe Milan news actually wrote this article thinking that is a good idea
Look at those names
I beg to differ? Anyone those who have different, opinion than your’s are Maldini fanboys according to you..
I bet that, when we won the Scudetto last season, you didn’t say the same thing right? Your 90% comments, are aimed at Maldini and instead of giving factual reply to the people, that have different opinion than your’s, you simply brand them as Maldini fanboys..
I am not trying to say, that Maldini doesn’t have flaws.. You criticise him, for Donnarumma and Calhanoglu departures.. Why don’t you? Give him credit, for renewing Leao and Theo? Oh I suppose, that doesn’t fit your agenda against him!
Not Maldini fanboys, but any Milan faithful will support his team unconditionally.. No matter, if it’s UCL or UEL! Maldini, has brought our club back to UCL.. Do you even, remember the past seven years from 2014 to 2021, without Champions League? Or you were, PSG or Manchester City fan during this period?
Cool Maldini has brought the club back to ucl but, Maldini has also brought back the club in the Europa league where we were in 2016, when they were throwing Montella in the air after the last game of the season.
1 step forward 4 steps back.
BTW I already gave Maldini credit for resigning Theo , look up, AND Rafa is still not resigned. Have you seen any official announcements? Also, Rafa’s father said the other day they are negotiating and that RAFA WANTS TO PLAY IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
Thanks to Maldini outstanding mercato, unfortunately Rafa will not play in UCL next season, at least not with Milan.
You really can’t fault Maldini for his negotiating skill trying to keep players in Italy and for a lesser wage is kinda a loosing battle in negotiations so the fact that we even extended Theo and Leao is a small miracle to be honest. But what Maldini and Masara are missing is a clear project we are in a desperate need of a new RW, ST and CM for a while now, but those areas have been ignored for 2 years now..And the results show that finally after two years of miracles but nobody is surprised except for them.. And then you have moves like that replacement GK what the fuck was that, this team has either young players that need time to develop or old gezzers that are way past their prime there is 0 players that are actually in theri prime years. I mean I would get that Lazetić move if we had a youngish striker that delivers and a replacement veteran striker like Giroud then you make a move like that but we literally have 1 striker!ONE! who is also 37 years old !!! and we pull shit like Lazetić yeah that is gonna save us… And the fact that they are even considering Morata makes me vomit.. This summer will be crucial if we get this one wrong back to banter era we go , and all of this could have been avoided if they were at least more proactive in the last couple of transfer windows we don’t need to spend 100m but just address areas where we clearly need a change for fuck’s sake!!
What can you do, when player does not want to sign new contract and does not want to leave to other club? You will bench him, and pay millions to seat? Please, tell me, why is that Maldini fault?
@Poli You’re reaching on some of these so your whole argument in the end looks biased. The reasoning is flawed because you want to skew it so badly out of favour in regards to Maldini just to “prove” your point. So we all know you’re just biased. I think Maldini is doing great given the parameters he’s been set but I can concede for instance that we should have re-signed Chalanoglu earlier and tbh he was going to re-sign until he backstabbed us. That’s what really happened. Donnaruma I thought we either should have sold for peanuts in his last year of contract or give Raiola 20mil as it was equivalent to a transfer fee for such a good player. I still think we should have ceded to his demands but we eventually got a cheaper player in Mike that is as good if not better in some areas. But to just say we just lost players for free Willy nilly when we re-signed our entire back line and double pivots, it’s not exactly painting the correct picture or the ability to re-sign players. Without Kessie we don’t win no Scudetto. What’s the value of selling him vs winning a trophy is up to debate. You know my answer to that
Well said.
We needed to sell Donaruma, Hakan and Kesie year before contract was over.
Not to buy Charles Zerolera, 35mill.
Bring back Cutrone, natural striker, similar to Pippo Inzaghi.
the project of losing to low ranking teams.. at least nobody important is leaving on free in 2023. they’re learning
If you don’t buy games like juventus or inter you must lose games against low ranking team..
Inter buy games?
Check var connections in many games compared to ours.
Of course they are, even marotta in champions league have big impact.
o yeah.. blue merde, white merde all the same
Hakan and romagnoli left the team coz milan dont want to raise 500k for his salary. Now they are have big impact with another team. Actually 3rd and 4th above us. So sad.. hehehe…
Well if pioli sacked , then maldini too. Remember who choose giampaolo but not giving his request player like denis praet & joachim andersen then sacked him replace him with pioli but still not giving pioli request player like berardi & amrabat. I respect maldini as legend player for AC Milan but im sorry better he take role like javier zanetti in IM become vice president not DS . Maldini buying CDK & Adili that not fit on coach system ( CDK good as false nine while adili good at mezzala ) . Why he buy that 2 player without coordination with coach ? Pioli must out at the end of season to take responsibility if AC Milan play on europa league next season but it is not fair if Maldini stay on his job and repeat his mistake transfer decision again and again
I think there is more important to do, that is to change the head coach, Pioli with another coach, like De Zerbi of Brighton. Pioli has done great job in Milan, but I think we need a new coach, that is more experienced worked out of Italy
