MN: The perfect revenge with a ‘Conte factor’ – the pros and cons attached to Lukaku

By Ben Dixon -

Romelu Lukaku is the latest striker to be linked with AC Milan, and whether it is an interest that never died or a reborn interest is unknown. However, it seems that the Rossoneri see him as a puzzle piece they may not find elsewhere.

Signing the Belgian presents several difficulties, and that is without considering timings. If the mercato started by signing him, as opposed to a younger option, it would be received more negatively than if the timings were reversed.

With that in mind, he is not a bad player, though, and he could provide several options for Milan to utilise, as was reported earlier this morning.

The interest in him from the Diavolo is certainly understandable, and Milan News have taken a look at some of the positive and negative aspects of his potential arrival.

Starting with the pros, last season, he scored 21 in 47 games, four more than Oliver Giroud managed in the same amount of games, and whilst he has struggled with injuries in the past, he came through the season without any physical issues.

Additionally, he knows Serie A, meaning not only can he provide an outlet there, but also he could assist younger talent with learning the characteristics required to play in this division and in Europe, where he has plenty of experience.

With good relations with Chelsea, it is certainly an intriguing proposition, and it could be the perfect chance for the Belgian to earn revenge in Milan, having been snubbed by Inter.

However, there are negatives to the deal. He has bad blood with the Rossoneri, for obvious reasons, but also due to his brawl with Ibrahimovic in 2021. Furthermore, Antonio Conte will target him for his Napoli side, with Victor Osimhen likely to depart this summer.

Finally, he received around €7 million last season at Roma, a figure which only Rafael Leao earns, and this is not something that will be replicable for the Rossoneri.

    1. With Milan there are no such thing as a zero chance, especially when it comes to loaning players. For me Lukaku won’t be a bad option, however I expect Milan to purchase a young striker that will grow with the team for years to come.

  1. The guy is obviously useful and a great addition to any team that needs a ST. Big However coming though. Roma for the moment is the only club who didn’t have issues with him and it’s a matter of time I guess.

Also the bad blood with the fans is a factor. He expressed his undying love for Inter numerous times until he decided to go behind Inter’s back.

Ibra and Lukaku is not a real life problem, it’s 2 rottweilers measuring their dominance on the playground, but I’m sure Zlatan likes that quality of Lukaku. At most he will want to have a clause in the (hypothetical) contract stating “I, RL, recognize Zlatan as the true King of Milano”.

    1. Hahaha it would be a funny clause though usually kings wear a crown and not a leash like Zlatan right now.

    2. Forget the bad blood and because he played for Inter. Those things don’t work again. Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic etc all played for Inter before. Even Pioli coached Inter at one point in his career too. It means nothing. If Milan signs him he’ll say “He’s always dreamt of playing for Milan” like every footballer does. 😂

However, I’d prefer Zirkzee or any of the other guys we’ve been linked with.

  2. I don’t mind the name because he suits our style of play. But how do we go from three guys who cost over 40m to a loan move? What is this management trying to do

  3. Yes, the management actually know what they’re doing… Getting Lukaku quality, goals guarantee, experience and physical with hold up play on loan with option to buy and sign young quality striker along being Sesko or Zirkzee.

Release jovic and bring back Colombo with Okafor also as an option i think we are well covered upfront to compete in all competitions for next season uefa cup and league. The coach will gave enough to rotate with online Pioli who force Giroud to play almost everytime

    1. Hakan kisses Milan badge before embracing Inter badge.

Zlatan has kissed Juventus, Inter before his endless romance with MILAN, same as Vieri and Gattuso.

If Lukaku end up at Milan and his first press conference will be its a dream comes true and feel so happy to be here at Milan
