MN: Performance and VAR say no but standings still have Milan at the top

By Isak Möller -

The last few rounds of Serie A have been very strange indeed. In the last one, all of the tops teams dropped points and Milan ended up gaining a point on Inter. And this time out, both Milan sides dropped points.

The Rossoneri are currently two points ahead of their city rivals and they are still at the top of the standings, therefore. Napoli could leapfrog them tomorrow, though, as they will face Lazio and are just three points behind.

As highlighted by MilanNews, Milan are right to be upset with the refereeing as – once again – one decision decided the outcome of the game. Udinese’s equaliser should have been disallowed for handball but, at the same time, it’s not an excuse.

Stefano Pioli’s men didn’t play well after the opening goal and failed to create clear-cut chances in the second half. While their performances and VAR have said no, the standings still have Milan at the top, making this a very peculiar Scudetto race.
