MN: Pioli to evaluate young striker in preseason as three loan bids arrive

Three clubs above all are interested in signing Lorenzo Colombo from AC Milan but they will have to remain patient, a report claims.

As MilanNews reports, by the middle of the week the full Milan squad will be back at Milanello ahead of the departure on July 21 to the United States for their three preseason friendlies. Those who have not yet returned have been on international duty.

The first to arrive today was Lorenzo Colombo, who showed up as scheduled for lunch at the sports centre in Carnage while the others are instead expected on Wednesday.

After having returned from a season on loan at Lecce where he scored six goals, Colombo will be tested and used during the games against Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona out in the west of the USA.

However, loan offers continue to arrive – above all from Genoa, Sassuolo and Salernitana – and his future will also depend on any other incoming players in the attacking department such as potentially Mehdi Taremi.

  1. He doesn’t stand a chance.

We’re just going to keep piling on more and more signings especially in that position where it’s almost guaranteed we’ll sign a new striker at least every summer transfer window and probably also winter as well. We’ll go through 3-4 strikers a season and that’s before we’ve seen any youth players.

    It’s pointless.

        1. Pace and dribbling isn’t everything in football. E.g. Super-Pippo was never known for either of them. Did he score goals? He did – helluva lot actually.

  2. Before spending anything more than 15 million on a striker from the Three headed Portuguese league, playing in one of their most dominant clubs, we might be better off giving him a serious look. CDK too up front.

  3. This is the perfect opportunity to integrate him gradually into the first team as deputy to Giroud. It’s a better than investing in Taremi.

  4. Best scenario for Milan and Colombo is another year or 2 on loan and then a sale, just like the Inter – Pinamonti situation.
Pinamonti was sent on a few loans by inter, and last summer, they sold him for 20 mil to Sassuolo.
Colombo doesn’t have the talent to play for Milan in a significant role.
