MN: Pioli forced to late change vs. Hellas Verona as Romagnoli sustains warm-up injury

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli won’t be taking part in Milan’s game against Hellas Verona this evening, having sustained an injury during warm-up. It remains to be seen how serious the injury is, but fortunately, Stefano Pioli has a replacement.

According to MilanNews.it, Matteo Gabbia – who recently recovered from COVID – will step in to replace the defender. Romagnoli’s issues are muscular and as mentioned, it remains to be seen how serious it is.

Before he got COVID, Gabbia played the opening games of the season alongside Simon Kjaer, as Romagnoli was still recovering from an injury. Therefore, the two know each other well and it shouldn’t have a major impact on the game.

As a result of this, Gigio Donnarumma will captain the Rossoneri this evening. The game will kick-off at 20:45 and since the other big teams (bar Napoli) didn’t win, Milan have a big chance of extending their lead at the top.
