MN: Probable XI for Milan vs. Inter – Faith in Saelemaekers

By Euan Burns -

Stefano Pioli could find himself putting faith in Alexis Saelemaekers in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter on Wednesday night.

As has been reported by Milan News, Pioli has to plan for an eventuality where Rafael Leao cannot start the game against Inter as he picked up an abductor injury against Lazio in the 2-0 win.

There is not a clear replacement for Leao in the squad given he is the most important player in the team, and it seems that Pioli will put faith in Alexis Saelemaekers to play on the left wing which is not his favoured role.

Brahim Diaz will take the place on the right wing and he will stick with Ismael Bennacer in the advanced midfield role in the middle.

Beyond the issue with Leao, Pioli has got a full squad to choose from and the team can still go into the game feeling confident.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Krunic; Diaz, Bennacer, Saelemaekers; Giroud.

  1. lets go alex!! i believe left is where you can play your best since Theo will be your tandem, not lame ass calabria in offence lol

  2. Alexis is right footed. Should be a natural side for him to cutback and shoot. His crosses are crap so let’s hope realizes he can now shoot in a favorable position.
