MN: Romagnoli to be benched again as Tomori prepares for start vs. Verona

By Isak Möller -

For the game against Roma, which Milan won by two goals to one, Stefano Pioli decided to switch things up by replacing Alessio Romagnoli with Fikayo Tomori. A good call, as the latter was very impressive on the pitch.

The Chelsea loanee has had limited playing time thus far but the start against Roma hinted at a permanent defensive change. Although Pioli started Romagnoli in the mid-week clash against Udinese, Tomori will be back on Sunday.

According to MilanNews.it, Pioli has decided to switch back to the defence he fielded against Roma and this means that the Englishman will be able to build on his good form. It seems the issue vs. Udinese was really just fatigue.

The reports also added that Simon Kjaer is the only centre-back with a cemented spot in the heart of the defence. The Dane is crucial with all of his experience and his partnership with Tomori looked promising indeed.
