MN: Serie A granted stop during AFCON but Milan’s midfield intentions are clear

By Isak Möller -

Milan are currently planning for next season and after securing the services of Mike Maignan, a few more signings are expected this summer. At least one will be made for the midfield, for a very specific reason.

Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie will both take part in the African Cup of Nations for their respective country between January 9 and February 6. They will miss some games, in other words, and thus a replacement is needed.

Milan already have Sandro Tonali for that role, but another player would be needed as Soualiho Meite has returned to Torino. According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri’s intentions are clear on this although a positive update has emerged.

In fact, FIFA have granted a stop on the weekend of January 29-30, meaning Serie A will be able to postpone those games. As a result, the players involved in the AFCON will miss one round less in Serie A.
