After the big 3-1 win against Real Madrid, Alvaro Morata spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on what AC Milan did right. Of course, the Spaniard also got on target.
It was a special match for Morata, leading his new team against his former, and with the crowd not shy to jeer him every time he got on the ball. He responded in the best way possible, putting Milan back ahead with the 2-1 goal which helped the Rossoneri clinch the 3-1 win.
Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, as transcribed by MilanNews, Morata shared his thoughts on the ‘serious’ performance and what it means for the upcoming weeks. He also praised Rafael Leao when asked, having made it clear before the game that it was his night.
On the match that goes down as history…
“It’s what I said to the lads before: an important match especially for us and then for the fans, as well as the club. We had to fight like lions. We played a great match, a serious performance. We had moments of clarity and suffering.”
On how awareness changes…
“Let’s stay on the same page, we don’t have to set off fireworks. It’s important to be aware of the importance of winning here.”
On his personal satisfaction…
“400km from here people are going through hell. I’m proud of my team and I’m sorry I can’t be in my country to help.”
On Leao…
“We never had any doubts. He too must be aware that he can make football history: he is clearly stronger than all of us.”
Milan now have six points in the Champions League and significantly ‘easier’ games await from here on out. As such, they might even start dreaming about securing a direct spot for the knockout phase, which would be a huge success.
What an excellent goal from him ❤🖤❤🖤
