Moretto and Diaz

Moretto shuts down rumours linking Brahim Diaz with Milan return: “No”

Brahim Diaz has been mentioned as a possible signing for AC Milan in January, having dropped down the pecking order at Real Madrid. However, as per Matteo Moretto, there is no chance of the Spaniard returning to the Rossoneri.

The attacking midfielder spent three years at the club, between 2020 and 2023, and became a rather likeable player among the fans in the end. Real Madrid decided to bring him back and last season, he bagged 12 goals in 44 games for the club.

This season has been tougher for Diaz, also due to an injury, and Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning that Milan are keeping tabs. When asked about these rumours on X, Matteo Moretto – who is an expert on the Rossoneri and above all Spanish football – simply replied ‘No’.

In other words, there is no chance that the midfielder will return to Milan in January. The Rossoneri clearly have other priorities, such as a defensive midfield, and it would really be a ‘luxury’ signing for Paulo Fonseca – which is something you don’t tend to do in January.

It should also be added that Christian Pulisic has played more in the No.10 lately, while Fonseca also has opted for a three-man midfield in many games.

  1. Although my preference would be upgrading RLC with Lewis Ferguson or another CM so Reijnders can go CAM but if going forward, Puli is gonna be our starting CAM, we need a RW.

We need either higher quality RW or Chukwueze has to step up. Sorry but he’s been unconvincing, definitely better this year but nothing to be amazed with.

Chiesa/Gnoto seem like a natural solution. Gnoto being raw and Chiesa salary and whether he hit his ceiling being the main issues.

Add Frendrup and Bennacer’s return and we are cooking.

That leaves CB pair to Gabbia and RB are also something we need to figure out, hope Florenzi recovery is faster and we can have him from the end of February.

    1. I would also add Leon King or Oscar Boscagli and Devyne Rensch. They are CB and RB who have expiring contracts and are cheap (Leon). I hope we can buy one of them when we can sell players like Tomori, Loftus- Cheek, Jovic or Calabria…

  2. If we want a CAM so badly Rayan Cherki will be dirt cheap due to Lyon’s financial troubles which could lead to enforced relegation.

    1. In my opinion, if Milan needs to find a good AM. They can buy Matias Zaracho from Atletico Mineiro. He only has 6 months left on his contract before he becomes a free agent.

      1. That guy (Matias Zaracho) has been on the Milan radar for a very long time ago.
Maybe now might be the best time to purchase him 😫

  3. Brahim’s issues haven’t gone away. We all complained that he was too easy to nudge off the ball and his form had been inconsistent. We already have inconsistent players in our team.
