CM: ‘We needed something more’ – what Conceicao ‘expects’ from Milan now

Parma certainly gave AC Milan some challenges on Sunday, yet the Rossoneri were able to get three points by the skin of their teeth. For the side to be more competitive, Sergio Conceicao has made some requests.

Before he joined Milan, Conceicao was very much aware of the challenges that came with this current Rossoneri team. Although there has been success in Europe thus far, domestically, things are not going well.

Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana, the Portuguese quickly stated that this was not a good season for the club, and that work was needed for things to get back on track, so some requests have been made.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Conceicao has been vocal about the need for reinforcements, stating after the Juventus game, ‘I said we needed something more and I’m not backing down. So I hope that something more can come, if not we will go to war with what we have’.

For this reason, the Portuguese has asked the management for three things, a right-back – which has now been provided, a deputy for Youssouf Fofana, and finally a ‘double-figure striker’, something which the club deemed not necessary in the summer.

Conceicao is ‘expecting’ a major effort from the club for Santiago Gimenez to arrive, and so far, it is being made. However, if the deal is too much to do, then a winger will be requested, with Gimenez’s arrival involuntarily shifted to the summer.

Makes me feel bad for Fonseca, because it’s what he needed too. Management set the team up to fail, now they’re trying to undo the damage in January. Moncada and Furlani need to go. Moncada’s contract is up in June. It is my sincere hope that it is not renewed.

    1. Furlani is a figure-head… literal Cardinale’s b*tch… he won’t leave unfortunately, but an upgrade over Moncada is a must…

    2. feel the same way: fonsy was a scape goat. they’d rather blame him than accept they totally miscalculated and mismanaged the transfer and season as a whole. fonseca was collateral damage.

    3. Don’t feel bad for Fonseca at all.

If he had the balls he would have demanded players like Sergio is doing now. But that was the reason they hired Fonseca in the first place – because they didn’t want someone who demanded transfers spends (like a Conte). They wanted a yes man and that is what they got in Fonseca.

The irony is they now had to get a real coach who doesn’t eff around and knows exactly what he wants and needs. Thank God. Now let’s see if management supports him or not
