AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale was part of a panel at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference earlier today. However, despite discussing sports in Europe vs. the United States, he didn’t mention the Rossoneri at all.
Cardinale has received a lot of criticism from Milan fans in recent months, not just because of the struggles of the Rossoneri’s project but also his absence. In fact, he hasn’t been in Milano since September of last year, which says a lot.
Earlier today, he was part of a panel at the 19th edition of the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, more specifically the panel ‘Building Sports Empires with an Entrepreneurial Edge’. However, despite discussing sports investments in Europe, he didn’t even mention Milan once.
Furthermore, he wasn’t asked about the Rossoneri by the presenter, which suggests it was an active choice not to mention the club. Given the current situation it’s perhaps understandable, but it could also be seen as dodging the responsibilities.
The fact that Cardinale hasn’t even sent a message to the fans since the Supercoppa Italiana win is a bit worrying, as the fans also need to be addressed in tough times.
He needs to go
Lovely to see Gerry looking stressed out. Maybe time for us buy some shares in nutrafol and ozempic 🤑
Milan needs some peace and silence now to properly work their way out of the problems. talking about Milan at some Conference is probably not helping much for this. and then, even if he would mention Milan, you anyway find something in his words, that you could interpret negatively. whatever he does, its always wrong – cause you just dont like him.
Come on now. He is not gonna say how he took a good historic club with positive debt and a solid squad and destroyed it in a blink of an eye.
The comments on the YouTube stream were turned off too. Likely by design. Because I was ready to blast. LOL!!!
The American hasn’t quite got this….. He’s – apparently – owner of piece of Europe’s finest football heritage and he fails to acknowledge his position.
Enough said.
One of his statements from this show.
Cardinale: “In the US there is greater acceptance of live event entertainment, in Europe performance is much more important.”
He thought he’ll get away with being cheap on players while selling overpriced collaboration with hyped up junk brands like OffWhite. No can do mister. While you do earn money from selling overpriced POS merchandise, football is where the real money is in Europe. And you had to learn it the hard way. At least I hope he did.
He’s learning at least lol 🤣🤣🤣
Couldn’t contain his love for Liverpool though could he 😤
In reality the guy is SMALL CHANGE Hence why he can’t afford the club or get a new stadium constructed without Elliot who up till this point have got away with murder with regards Milan.
Unfortunately so many brought the propaganda in regards Italian football for example can’t spend big on top class talent can’t spend big on top coaching can’t build new stadium have to comply with FFP ect ect ect.
The fact the coward didn’t have the balls to talk in regards to Ac milan speaks volumes of how much he cares with regards the fans or indeed Italian football.
#GetElliot / Redbird out.
Either he forgot he own Milan or he’s thinking of selling Milan.
Despite his Harvard, Oxford, and Goldman Sachs pedigree, Cardinale doesn’t appear to appreciate certain fundamental things:
1. ACM is a storied sporting institution – not just a commercial asset to be exploited. As its owner, you mustn’t prioritize financial gain over success on the pitch and expect to get away with it. Eventually the chickens will come home to roost, as they now have.
2. ACM has a distinct individuality. You can’t turn it into a characterless fungible by trashing its colors, icons, and other cherished symbols.
3. ACM is a serious football club – not a vulgar and superficial entertainment company. If showbiz is what you visualize the club mainly doing in future, change its name, up sticks, and take it with you to Las Vegas. We don’t want you in Milan.
How come Real Madrid is so successful both on and off the pitch whilst remaining faithful to its heritage and identity? The answer, in the final analysis, has nothing to do with who its coach, sporting director, or CEO are, no matter how good they may be, but everything to do with who its owner is.
4. ACM – one of the world’s most decorated football clubs – mustn’t serve as a retirement home for aging stars, and a nursery for young players who are fed to other clubs as soon as they begin to bloom. Our rightful place is at Europe’s exclusive top table, with clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern, Man City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and PSG – not in the kitchen with lowly Lecce. It’s now 18 years since we last played in a Champions League final. How many more decades must we wait before we grace that lofty stage again?
Cardinale’s biggest mistake at ACM? Sacking Maldini. The team’s decline that culminated in the implosion that fans have watched with dismay in recent weeks began at that moment. What a terrible own goal!
Well said
That’s exactly what he’s doing and it’s not because he wouldn’t understand the heritage and tradition of AC Milan. It’s because he’s a Wall Street thug and for him this club is exactly what you wrote – an asset with huge potential from commercial point of view. And to achieve that, he needs to eliminate the tradition. In one podcast he said Billy Beane persuaded him to invest in European football, where there’s an enormous potential starting with resale of assets (players). He also said that Toulouse was his trial club to see how things would pan out and AC Milan is the next step.
He know that ac milan soon or later would be sold and no future Milan on him. Club with no profit. Just sell bro Gerry Sponge Bob.
This team is too focused on being the best in social justice, making Milan a “Pan-African team” (from 4th kit)
He doesn’t care about the in-field performance, as long as we get the extra euro games.
It’s not the same Milan anymore.. but it’s okay, he might become a loser
