Official: AC Milan confirm return of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have officially confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be returning for a second spell at the club after seven years away.

The Rossoneri announced the news via a statement on their official website, with the Swede having put pen to paper on a deal which will run until the end of the season, while it is being widely reported that there is the option for another season.

Ibrahimovic first arrived at Milan on loan from Barcelona in August 2010, helping the Rossoneri win their 18th Scudetto that season by scoring 14 goals. He then joined permanently and netted 28 goals the next season before leaving with Thiago Silva for Paris Saint-Germain.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Milanello is scheduled for January 2, while La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier on Friday that his first game will likely be the Coppa Italia clash against SPAL at San Siro on January 15.

The statement on the club’s website reads: ‘AC Milan announces that it has concluded an agreement for the right to sports performance of the player Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

‘The Swedish forward has reached an agreement with the AC Milan club until the end of this season, with the option to extend it for the following season.’
