Official: Milan and Inter announce that fines from Ibra-Lukaku spat will be donated to charity

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter have announced that some good has come from the on-field spat between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku.

There was certainly plenty of controversy during the Coppa Italia quarter-final as Ibra and Lukaku clashed just before half time, with the pair exchanging plenty of insults. The Swede made a provocative comment but a clever one related to Lukaku’s past, yet the issue was escalated to the Federal Prosecutor.

A statement on the club’s official website confirms that the sum of the fines given to Ibrahimović and Lukaku after the episode in the Italian Cup will go to charity. The clubs act with the awareness that they have always represented the most authentic values of sport, and consider the incident ‘not in keeping with the shared principles of sporting fair play’.

In line with this, both clubs have chosen to donate the sums of the fines that will be imposed to charity. All’s well that ends well, we suppose.
