Official: Milan dealt blow as tests confirm injury setback for Hernandez

By Isak Möller -

Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria both underwent tests at Milanello this morning after leaving international duty with injuries. A muscle injury was confirmed for the Frenchman, whose recovery time remains unknown.

Calabria was subbed off at half-time of Milan’s game against Napoli and Hernandez complained about pain afterwards. As such, they both left international duty early and returned to Milanello, where they underwent tests today.

As learned by SempreMilan.it’s Luca Maninetti via the club, the test revealed a muscle strain for Theo’s right adductor. Calabria, on the other hand, didn’t have a muscle injury and will thus be able to return to training shortly.

Hernandez will be tested again next week and more details on his recovery will be known then, but it’s likely that he will miss Milan’s game against Empoli. The goal will then be to have him back for the Chelsea game.

  1. Wow, who would have thought this would happen. I mean we have 2(!) LBs, of which one (B. Toure) never plays. So basically Theo is our only LB. Who would have thought he could possibly get injured?!

    (Sarcasm off)

  2. “..they both left international duty early…” Calabria wasn’t called up for international duty by Manciny so how could he leave international duty? Besides, if he got the injury during the game, he would have never gone to international duty to begin with if he was called up. There is a whole commotion now about Calabria not being called up as he is the Captain for the current Scudetto champions. Man I follow more football than the writers🤦‍♂️

    1. Yes he can fit in……but he should be thrown in the mix now players make mistakes but that’s how they regain their confidence unless you are maguire esque player lol

    2. Can doesn’t mean should. Dest is a right-sided player, so we would again be playing someone out of position to cover for Theo while confirming that Ballo-Toure is useless. The squad is paper thin. In January and next summer the focus should be on depth, not some luxury buy at RW or striker. We need proper backups for Theo, Leao and a defensive midfielder. Then we can focus on luxury buys at RW and ST.

  3. Hope theo recovers fast the games after empoli will be tough Chelsea x2 and juve theo have to come back for those games.. can’t blame players they have been working over time with packed fixtures…..wish he recovers fast and off from intentional duty will recharge them….hope all the injured players revovers in time for final hurdle before World Cup break comes in…..month of October is very important.
