Official: Paqueta handed three-game ban for slapping referee

By Isak Möller -

Following his red card against Bologna last night, the sporting judge has now announced that Lucas Paqueta will miss the rest of the season, serving a three-game ban.

The Brazilian received a straight red card after seemingly slapping the referee, who in the player’s defence pushed him away. However, the sporting judge didn’t appreciate this action and decided to add one game to his suspension-tally.

Paqueta would already have missed two games for the first yellow card (which took his tally of yellow cards up to 5), as well as the straight red for his actions in the second half.

He will now miss the final three games of the season: Fiorentina, Frosinone and SPAL. A big blow for Gattuso’s men, who got back to winning ways last night after a tough spell in the Champions League race.
