Luka Jovic has often been seen as a side option for AC Milan, and his renewal this season has been a regular question. However, he continues to prove his worth.
With Olivier Giroud departing in the summer, there was a need for some continuity in Milan’s front line, so Jovic had his deal renewed by a year. However, just weeks later, the club were open to separating.
Injuries plagued the first half of his year, as did a struggle for minutes when fit, and this meant that come January, the Rossoneri were once again trying to make a split occur.
Once again, though, there were no suitors to be found, so the Serbian striker remained at the club. Now, it seems like a potential blessing in disguise, with Jovic rising from the shadows and helping the Diavolo when he is needed.
As Goal report, with his goal against Fiorentina, he has averaged a goal every 131 minutes, despite his record not looking very appealing – 11 goals in 39 appearances. However, this record has actually only been bettered by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who averaged a goal every 128 minutes.
Now, he is even being touted as being ahead of Santiago Gimenez in the squad list, which is certainly a shock, and maybe there could be the chance of another renewal.
Jovic has often been the ‘desperation move’ for Milan, but perhaps he has been overly criticised.
A great second striker, in a Serie A full of teams playing 3-5-2 he made the wrong choices going to teams that play with one striker (Fiorentina and Milan).
Also at Eintracht he did his breakout season playing alongside another striker.
This. Absolutely 100% spot on. Yet some “experts” here have tried to counter the claim that he is unable to be the lonely striker (which is actually supported by FACTS). Oh well… Experts being experts, eh? 😀 😀 😀
There has to be something he does or doesn’t do in training or off the pitch that has ruined his career, because he is a very talented player.
His style of play and stature is very similar to Lautaro Martinez. Lautaro also can’t play by himself in the front line.
But Lautaro is physically another level. Jovic does not have that intensity.
We always do this – look for a solution to a problem when it’s right under our nose.. Just keep Jovic and pair with another striker.
It’s in our DNA to play with 2 strikers. He’d be great as a second striker.
This. 100%.
Amazing the players that we have let leave this club and what could’ve been (**who would probably start over our current starters):

Pierre Aubameyang
Ismael Bennacer
Marco Brescianni
Brahim Diaz
**Hakan Calhanoglu
Lorenzo Columbo
Bryan Cristante
Charles DeKetalare
Diogo Dalot
Gigi Donnarumma
**Pierre Kalulu
**Manuel Locatelli
Lucas Paqueta
Daniel Maldini
Mario Pasalic
Alessio Romagnoli
Alexis Salesmaekers
Jan Carlo Simic
**Sandro Tonali
I am sure I missed some, but this just goes to show how incompetent we have become letting good players walk out the door
Renewing Jovic and signing Abraham permanently will mean we want to start using 4-4-2, 4-2-4, or 4-1-3-2 formation as we will still have two strikers on the bench – Gimenez and Carmada.
But I’m definitely sure that this will be the new sporting director’s call and will be the one to decide on which player to keep and which one should go
idu doma nemaju pojma ali da sada se ističu među ovim mrtvacima
We literally are doing better in 2nd halves when we have Jovic up top with another striker, so why do we keep going back to a 433 every damn time? Play Jovic and Abraham together form the start
We play with 1 lonely striker because the coach wants us to fail. That’s the only logical reason. Oh wait, some people say it’s because Leao cannot perform if we have two strikers. Well… Has he performed with the lonely striker? Eeeeexactly!!! So… 2 strikers it is then. Or should be.
He is strong, good physic , so good first touch, so good in arieal.
I always wanted him to start even during the presence of morotta,
Not very selfish, dosent complain, has proved several times when he was given chance.
The should have given him more chance this season when our strikers werent performing.
perhaps play 2 striker with Abraham and Jovic. And let gimenez be the backup.
He got decent passing too, he comes inside to play the ball and pass it to the wings, he several times unlocked Theo or Leaon on the wings
Forget Abraham and Gimenez. Let them go. Buy Lucca and Hojlund on loan.
We don’t know what we have until we lose it
This team is over complete
The only thing missing is players like benacer and adlli
And the approach to the game, that’s all
He is good, I hope we keep him for next season and play him. Fonseca made mistakes when he don’t play him and rather play Abraham and Morata. If we have a coach who faith him, he will be maybe around 10/12 goals in season. Its shame we don’t trust him full this season
