After what was a disappointing 2019/20 season, Davide Calabria is once again one of the best defenders in the Milan squad. With two goals and two assists this season, he has improved his attacking numbers.
The 24-year-old has always been known for being one of the best Serie A defenders when it comes to 1v1 situations. This isn’t just a general perception of his playing style, but the stats also back it up as highlighted by Opta (via Football Italia).
Calabria has made 92 successful tackles in the league this season, which is 18 more than Giovanni Di Lorenzo who is in second place. The two are followed by Morten Thorsby (72), Manuel Locatelli (71), Marten de Roon (67), Juraj Kucka (63) and Adrien Rabiot (63).
Hopefully, the right-back will put his particular skill to use in the game against Juventus tomorrow, taking on Federico Chiesa who scored a brace in the reverse fixture. It’s a crucial game for both sides, making it very interesting.
