Ordine on possible sacking of Pioli: “It depends on who would arrive”

By Isak Möller -

In the last few weeks, Stefano Pioli has made some questionable decisions and has been heavily criticised for them by the AC Milan fans. However, as Franco Ordine argues, this alone is not enough to sack the manager.

The switch to a 4-4-2 formation against Udinese was a disaster, followed up by Yunus Musah at right-back in the collapse against Lecce. The Milan fans, as well as the media, have not been impressed by Pioli’s decision-making as of late.

Present on the show Pressing, as cited by MilanNews, the well-known journalist Franco Ordine shared his thoughts on Pioli’s situation. While the decisions have indeed been strange, Milan need a perfect plan to sack the manager.

“The idea of putting the two centre-forwards against Udinese, or putting Musah at right-back instead of Florenzi: I don’t recognize Pioli in certain decisions. Is it worth sacking him? It depends on who would arrive.

“If you have the chance to get Conte, for example, someone who can fix things for you in a month, then that’s one thing. Changing just for the sake of it, however, would be a mistake,” he stated.

Milan have made it clear many times that they have faith in Pioli. However, the feeling is that an exit from the Champions League could result in an exit. If not, it’s because the Rossoneri don’t want to jeopardise the top-four race by bringing in a new manager mid-season. The latter, however, is also a fine balance.

  1. Unfortunatly for us fans there is no win-win situation here i think.
1)They wont sack him mid season because new manager wont do much better in 6 months then pioli. So we must pray we can get top 4 and then fire him.
    2) If we dont qualify for CL next season they will fire him for sure but at that point we are not in CL and probably half of our players will want to leave cause of not playing CL and we wont be able to attract top players for the same reason.
    3) And if we somehow survive Serie A and get top 4 something tells me that managment will say ok, you can stay because we were unlucky with injuries and there wasnt much you(Pioli) could have done.

  2. Sack while the sacking is good. Cash out on lord Conte. Not a fan but he will get results.

Tho i don’t see that crybaby accepting milans way of doing things. He wants to win. Maldini was the same in that regard. If that means spending it means spending
