GdS: Origi yet to make his mark at Milan but everyone believes the best is yet to come

Saturday evening’s game against Monza at San Siro might finally be the time to see summer signing Divock Origi from the first minute, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms that Origi is a ‘serious candidate’ to start the game against Monza after having fully shaken off the injury problems that have plagued him since his arrival from Liverpool.

The Belgian striker was signed to provide a valid alternative to the 36-year-old Olivier Giroud, but the Frenchman has started 12 consecutive games for the Rossoneri and in Verona he showed his fatigue.

Origi’s physical problem was blamed on an injury he sustained towards the end of his final season in Liverpool – an unresolved muscle problem that had heavily influenced his preparation at Milanello and then tendon inflammation in his left thigh, which kept him out for five games.

What made things worse was that Ante Rebic was also out and both can play the double role of left winger and centre-forward, which meant that Rafael Leao was also forced to work overtime, but now both are back.

The hope is that Milan will now discover a mobile, experienced striker with good technique and the physique to provide and outlet that will bring his team-mates into the game. A goal against Berlusconi and Galliani’s side could be a nice first stamp.
