CorSport: Origi’s recovery provides Pioli with much-needed rotation in attack

The recovery of Belgian forward Divock Origi from injury means that AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli can finally rotate in attack in the way he had planned, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today (via Milan News), the fact that Origi took much longer to recover from his injury and had a couple of relapses meant that Olivier Giroud had to be relied on much more than is ideal.

Much to Pioli’s delight though, he can finally start to alternate the pair in the way that was desired when Origi joined the club.

The perfect example is the past week of fixtures. Origi started the Serie A match against Monza and found the back of the net. Giroud got a rest and was then fresh for the game in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb which was a must-win.

The Frenchman scored in that game, and will now be rested on Sunday against Torino with Origi taking his place.
