MN: Origi’s responsibility increases as Milan will be without key duo vs. Cremonese

AC Milan will travel to face struggling Cremonese tomorrow night without the hero of the last two games as Olivier Giroud saw red against Spezia.

MilanNews writes how Milan can be satisfied with the weekend’s action as – after beating Spezia 2-1 at San Siro on Saturday night – the Rossoneri gained three points over Atalanta, Roma and Inter, keeping the same distance from Naples, Lazio and Juventus. In Cremona therefore it will be necessary to register another win to head towards the break in the right way.

Stefano Pioli will not have Theo Hernandez available as the full-back got a yellow card which took him over the threshold, so it will be up to Fodé Ballo-Touré who was the match winner against Empoli. To replace Giroud it will be Divock Origi, who had two disappointing performances in the league against Torino and Spezia.

The Belgian striker is of course still adjusting after being plagued by injuries upon his arrival at the club but any notion that the goal against Monza would kick start a run of goals seems to have vanished.

His characteristics, in theory, are perfect for Pioli’s game: fast, athletic, strong on the counter-attack, technically good, physically well equipped to stay in the area, and yet there is the feeling that he is over complicating things for himself and his decision making is suffering.

Against Spezia it was Giroud who was decisive, but against Cremonese the former Liverpool man will have to show on the field what is the priority of his role: to score.
