Pato reveals the key piece of advice he would give to Rafael Leao: “He can do more”

Former striker Alexandre Pato has given some useful advice to AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, urging him to work hard to make the most of his opportunity.

Pato spoke on the club’s official Twitch channel tonight and was asked what he would tell Leao if he could send him a message, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

“He is a very important player, he is good. Football is not just about arriving at Milanello, training and going home. You have to focus on your work, if you are in a place like Italy where tactics are important you have to learn, study, watch the games,” he said.

“I see he has all this potential, he can do more. Sometimes when I was Milanello I wanted to go home straight away, football is not like that. The players have a very fast job, two to three hours on the field and then they go home.

“We must also take care of ourselves in the gym, focus on the head. He has to understand where he is, he has to work a lot on his head, he has to understand what it represents. I am sure he will do very well, and I wish it not only for him but for all the players.”

  1. Pato knows exactly what a player must do, which is basically the opposite of what he did, so I would take his advice seriously.
