Pellegatti: Milan have ‘certainly not’ signed 21-year-old as a replacement for Kessie

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not signed Yacine Adli as a replacement for Franck Kessie despite speculation suggesting otherwise, Carlo Pellegatti has claimed.

Tuttosport (via NotizieMilan) are among the sources to infer that the purchase of Adli may have been made in view of Kessie’s farewell at the end of next season. Obviously the Ivorian has become almost irreplaceable for the team, but the fact his deal runs out in 2022 means a difficult negotiation appears to be on the cards.

Pellegatti gave his thoughts to Tutti Convocati (via PianetaMilan) regarding the idea that Adli has been secured as a replacement for Kessie well in advance and dismissed the notion entirely. The journalist claims that he does not know for definite if Kessie will stay, but the club have ‘certainly not’ bought Adli because Kessie will not renew or as a potential replacement.

That is because the Frenchman is a player who has different characteristics to the Ivorian and plays further forward rather than being a physical shield in front of the defence.
