Pellegrino reveals ‘main qualities’, his Italian origins, idols and shirt number explanation

By Oliver Fisher -

New signing Marco Pellegrino has pledged to give everything for AC Milan, stating that it is a ‘dream’ to be able to join the club.

On their official website, Milan confirmed last night that they have completed the permanent signing of Pellegrino from Club Atlético Platense. The Argentinian defender has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028.

The president of Club Atletico Platense, Sebastian Ordonez, lifted the lid on how the negotiation with Milan went for Pellegrino including the terms agreed upon during an interview that came out earlier today.

The 21-year-old came through the Platense youth sector and he made his debut in the first team on 23 March 2023, amassing 17 appearances and one goal.

Pellegrino gave his first interview to the club’s official media channel and he spoke about his emotions after making the move and his ambitions.

“It’s a dream to be here. When I found out about the club’s interest, I spoke to my family about it. We were excited and couldn’t believe it,” he began.

“Today I’m here and I’m really happy that this is the case. My main qualities are my speed, the aggression with which I mark, my ability to stay focused during matches and my desire to work hard.

“Here, the game is very tactical and intense with high quality players. I hope to adapt quickly.

“I’m of Italian descent thanks to my grandfather, my mothers father was born in Italy. He often talks about this country and is also happy for me. I visited Italy a few years ago with my family. I hope to adapt quickly and will count on the support of my family.

“They’re always with me and we’ll get to know the city of Milan together, too. I spend a lot of time with my family and don’t do much. I hang out with my girlfriend and friends, and play video games.

“My idol is Sergio Ramos, and I’m a big fan of ‘El Cuti’ Romero. For me, he’s a complete centre-back and I’m trying to be like him.

“I chose the No.31 shirt because I wore it at Platense. It was on my back when I made my debut and scored my first goal. For me, it’s special.

“I can guarantee to everyone that I’ll always give my all in training and in matches. I’ll always do my best to help my team-mates, let’s hope everything all goes well and Forza Milan!”

  1. His family background is a lot like mine, though I’m more like Federico Redondo. For me ties to Argentina, Spain and a if you go further back Italy.

I am loving that an Argentinian has joined. Hopefully we get Federico too 😉 I’m biased.
