Pessina admits Galliani is still upset about Milan’s decision to let him leave

Matteo Pessina has stoked the flames ahead of AC Milan’s game against Monza this weekend by revealing Adriano Galliani’s thoughts on his sale.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Milan but he never made an appearance in a competitive game having seen his path to the senior side blocked by the presence of more established starters.

He has previously spoken about feeling regret at how his time with the Rossoneri went and in particular how it ended, while there have been repeated links over the years about a potential return given he impressed at Atalanta.

Pessine spoke during an interview with Tuttosport about his journey from Milan’s academy to Monza’s captain and he revealed a background on his transfer from the Rossoneri to Atalanta, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“He brought me to Milan because he saw great qualities in me. When the club was sold, they immediately swapped me plus money for Conti, and Galliani still doesn’t like this thing because it would have kept me there,” he said.

Pessina will face off against his old side on Saturday evening at the Stadio Brianteo as Monza hope to keep their unbeaten run in 2023 going.
