Photos: Maignan sends strong message after racial abuse vs. Cagliari – “N.W.A”

By Isak Möller -

Shortly after the game between AC Milan and Cagliari came to an end yesterday, a brawl erupted on the pitch between the players. The reason behind this was racial insults that especially Mike Maignan received throughout the game.

As the goalkeeper was leaving his position between the sticks (after the final whistle), the Cagliari ultras hurled things at him. Fikayo Tomori went over to Maignan and hugged him, while also making some gestures towards the Cagliari ultras.

That’s what the Cagliari players didn’t like, but it’s clear that Tomori had every right to do what he did. The home fans are infamous for their racial insults and even in 2022, it seems nothing has changed.

On Twitter, Maignan published a strong message with two black and white photos, one of a monkey giving the middle finger and one of him and Tomori. He added the caption “N.W.A”, referring to the abbreviation of the rap group “Niggaz Wit Attitudes”.

  1. Hope this Cagliari go to serie B next season,it is not good facing team with racist fans like that every season . It is very shameful and disgrace

    1. Their next two match against Udinese and Juventus. Possibly they will drop to 18th but that also depends on Genoa and Venezia.
