Pioli admits Pobega has ‘done well’ but says ‘now is not the time’ to discuss him

Tommaso Pobega was sent out on loan to Torino ahead of this season, looking to get more playing time, and it has been a successful spell thus far. Stefano Pioli is fully aware of this, ready to welcome the midfielder back.

The 22-year-old almost made the cut last summer but in the end, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara decided to send him out on loan. As it turns out, it was the right decision given the amazing growth Pobega has had at Torino.

During today’s press conference, amid rumours of a return to Milan for next season, Pioli was asked about the performances of Pobega. He stated that the player has done well but also reminded the media about the Rossoneri’s current focus.

“Pobega has certainly done well but now is not the right time to talk about next season. Now I have to enhance my squad and then we will think about the future,” he stated.

Pobega has played in several roles at Torino and would be able to play both in the tandem and as an attacking midfielder for Milan. Furthermore, he would be of use for the squad list seeing as he’s a homegrown player.
