Pioli avoids discussing the whistles against Kessie: “He’s focused and motivated”

By Isak Möller -

Franck Kessie didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome for AC Milan’s game against Bologna on Monday evening, booed and whistled when he entered the pitch. A matter that the player and Stefano Pioli aren’t focused on.

The midfielder’s contract with the Rossoneri will expire at the end of the season and he has decided to leave the club. A subsequent move to Barcelona has more or less been confirmed by the parties and that’s why the fans aren’t too happy with him.

His name was booed when the stadium announcer read it before the Bologna game and Kessie received some more of that treatment when he came on in the second half. He didn’t seem too fazed, however.

When asked about the matter during his press conference earlier today, Pioli quickly diverted from the whistles and just mentioned that Kessie is focused on what is a very important season finale for Milan. The right approach by the manager, one could argue.

“Kessie is focused and motivated. I haven’t talked to him but we’re all focused on the next games.”

  1. Kessie deserves the whistles. Not because he is leaving, the way he handled it.It is obvioous he was never all in to resign with the Rossoneri. No issues with that. Except,if that is the case,he should have not made the statement he made during the Olympics.

  2. Yeah, and he was claiming he is some kind of a leader for a few years, when Zlatan and Kjaer came he saw real leaders for the first time in his life. I don’t trust anyone that makes up stuff about himself.

  3. We are not blind Pioli, this guy run like a turtle.Last season he was fighting for our yersey but this year…its a shame how he does his job

  4. Kessie is not a leader. He’s a loser. The whistles are fine. And if he’s a professional he’ll play hard regardless of the whistles. Milan made him. In fact we stuck with him even when he was awful for 2-3 years. In all honesty he’s only been a good player for 1 full year and some of this year so yeah, it’s not like we’re saying bye to a legend. Just sucks we’re losing all the value of him leaving for free.

    1. exactly correct, and I can tell you from others and my own experiences ,if you are a tough competitor it motivates you to prove them wrong….Kessie can make the difference in the run for the Scudetto, he has shown his ability in the past, we shall see “what” Kessie shows up for the remainding 7 games.
