AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli could make a key change to the starting line-up for Wednesday’s Supercoppa Italiana clash against city rivals Inter, a report claims.
In view of Wednesday’s game, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that Stefano Pioli will welcome Sandro Tonali back into the midfield after he was suspended against Lecce for accumulating too many yellow cards, but that is not the only change in mind.
Pioli has a doubt in the centre of defence where Simon Kjaer could in fact take the place of Pierre Kalulu, thus partnering Fikayo Tomori. The Frenchman struggled during the 2-2 draw with Lecce at the weekend, so could be given some rest.
There is no doubting that Milan’s defensive record this season has seen a big drop off from the Scudetto winning campaign, so injecting some leadership from the Dane is what Pioli hopes will lead to greater organisation from the back four.
