Tuttosport: Pioli to evaluate key duo ahead of Salernitana game upon return to training

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is currently unsure whether he will have two of his key players available for the first game back against Salernitana.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alessandro Florenzi, Mike Maignan and Divock Origi will certainly be missing for the trip to Salerno, while there are doubts about whether Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez will be available.

The two Frenchmen are not injured but rather instead they are still on holiday after the World Cup final and will not return to Milanello until 30 December, the day on which the rest of the Milan squad will be engaged in the last friendly of the break against PSV Eindhoven.

Upon their return to the training complex, the two players will be carefully evaluated by Stefano Pioli and his staff and then a decision will be made as to whether or not they will be among the squad for the game on January 4.

Obviously everything will depend on how they are feeling after a physically and mentally tiring World Cup. The defeat in the final was a hard blow for both Theo and Giroud, who will now have a great desire to redeem themselves with the Rossoneri.
