Pioli explains why the goals scored against Lazio are near-perfect examples of Milan

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan left it late but managed to claim all three points against Lazio last weekend, courtesy of a late goal from Sandro Tonali. As explained by Stefano Pioli, the goals scored in that game are good examples of the Rossoneri.

The first goal was scored by Olivier Giroud, who threw himself to reach the ball before the defender. He was set up by Rafael Leao who, as we see so many times, beat his man with pace and skill before finding the Frenchman.

The second goal, as mentioned, was scored by Sandro Tonali and it came after Ante Rebic applied pressure to the Lazio backline, winning the ball back. Zlatan Ibrahimovic then forced another mistake from the defence and passed it to Tonali, there with a crucial toe.

During today’s presser, which you can read in full here, Pioli explained why these two goals are near-perfect examples of Milan. He stated that they must build from these goals in this crucial season finale.

“We have to start again from the two goals scored. Looking at those two goals scored, there are a lot of our characteristics, from Leao’s run to Giroud throwing himself, to the pressure of Rebic and Zlatan, to the toe of Tonali at the last second,” he stated.

  1. Huh?

Both goals happened because of Lazio’s defensive incompetence, how on earth is Lazio’s useless defense is a perfect example of Milan?

Is our coach trying to tell us we need other team to have no defense to score? Otherwise we can’t score?

Mr Pioli, with due respect, please just work on attacking tactics and technics. We need to improve on that aspect a lot more. We can’t always depend on Leao to shine in every match for our attack to work.

    1. I do not know what you are smoking but please stop, that stuff is not good for your health, it is affecting your thinking……when Milan wins, then it is because the opponent is not prepared but when Milan lose, fools like you will come here to complain about tactics you know nothing about….. Pioli is the soul of the team and have really impressed even his skeptics, so any reasonable Milan fan will understand him perfectly well, so if you have issues with English language or your thinking faculty is malfunctioning, then you should be in hospital and not here

      1. Good one, KOSSY! I wonder what he is talking about. The enormous pressure on Lazio’s defence which they couldn’t handle, led to the goals scored by our players…. It’s no fluke. Kudos to Pioli and the players!❤️🖤
