Pioli explains why Krunic is ‘more likely’ to start against Verona than Diaz

In the game against Udinese, Brahim Diaz was given the chance from start as Hakan Calhanoglu is still struggling with an injury. However, the Spaniard didn’t exactly impress and this is reflected in the team selection.

Rade Krunic is in pole position to start in the No.10 role tomorrow afternoon, adding some much-needed physical presence as Hellas Verona are strong in that aspect. And as was the case for Diaz mid-week, it’s a big opportunity for the Bosnian.

He has been moved around a lot this season between different positions and his playing time has been limited. It’s rare to see him in the trequartista role, which at least on paper seems to fit his qualities quite well, making tomorrow’s game even more important.

During his press conference earlier today, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli was asked about the battle between Krunic and Diaz. He confirmed that the former is indeed ahead in the race.

“They have different characteristics, Krunic is fine, he was rested on Wednesday, he is more likely to play,” he stated.
