Pioli heaps praise on ‘smart and attentive’ Hauge and the ‘impeccable professional’ Kjaer

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has praised the impact that two players have made since their arrival at AC Milan in Simon Kjaer and Jens Petter Hauge.

One has been at Milan for slightly longer than the other, as the Denmark international arrived on an initial loan from Sevilla that was made permanent during the recent summer window, while the Norwegian joined just over a fortnight ago from Bodo/Glimt after impressing during a Europa League game at San Siro.

Pioli spoke to the media at Milanello in his pre-match press conference, and began by discussing Hauge’s first couple of weeks at the club.

“He made a very good impression on us, he is a smart and attentive boy,” he said (via MilanNews).

“He has speed and technique, important characteristics for our way of playing. He already understands Italian quite well.”

He also spoke about Kjaer, who has been nothing short of exceptional since his arrival on loan from Sevilla in the last winter window.

“Honestly I hoped for this performance, but the contribution that Simon is giving on and off the pitch is of a high level,” he said.

“We are talking about an impeccable professional and an intelligent man. The return of the captain allows us to find those defensive mechanisms that we have worked on. We still have some difficulties in that department.”

In addition to the aforementioned duo, Pioli also spoke about Saturday’s opponents Inter, about his perceptions of where the team are at physically and mentally plus the conditions of Ibrahimovic and Rebic, which you can read here.
