GdS: Pioli welcomes Leao and Theo back into the fold – their impact was immediate

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is currently in a position where he has played at different levels of condition approaching friendlies, and that was on show last night.

Milan were 3-0 down after 26 minutes against ZTE and lost 3-2, but La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) talks about how the return to the field for Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao was a positive.

The French full-back and the Portuguese winger brought a more proactive contribution to Milan’s attacking play with dribbles and runs, showing their quality despite having not been back in training for long.

Milan are carefully managing the work load of their key men as they face 21 games in a short time of just over four months prior to the break for the World Cup. The first impressions however are positive and with the passage of time, more friendlies and the camp in Austria, we will see the top players recover their best shape.

  1. Given how Milan’s owners operate, both will be leaving the club in the next year or two, probably on free transfers.

    1. You daft or something? Have you seen the length of Theo’s contract. I don’t understand fans who are unnecessarily negative
