Pioli gives long explanation as to why Milan must be patient with De Ketelaere

Charles De Ketelaere has received some criticism lately and after starting the game against Chelsea, he was placed on the bench against Juventus. Stefano Pioli has made it clear that time is needed, though.

The Belgian playmaker arrived for a fee of €35m from Club Brugge this summer and there are inevitably high expectations with that. Thus far, De Ketelaere has bagged one assist for the club and many believe that he should have done better.

After the win against Juventus, in which De Ketelaere came on as a sub and did well, Pioli spoke about the time needed for youngsters to adapt (see video below). Much to his surprise, CDK has been criticised despite many previous examples, such as Pierre Kalulu and Sandro Tonali.

Indeed, patience will be needed to get the best out of De Ketelaere, who perhaps should have had an assist yesterday after a lovely pass to Theo Hernandez. If anyone knows what is needed, it’s Pioli.

  1. Even Ricardo Kaka didn’t shine in his first season at AC Milan.
Kaka was so shy, weak in duel, he was relay on his visions & passing only.

And now we have CDK in his first season, that very familiar with Kaka’s.

    1. I don’t know which Kaka you’re talking about, but Kaka did well since the first match. I remember my first impression when I heard Milan bought kaka. who tf is kaka? never heard any of him. and I’m fallin love immediately after his first appearance

also… not everyone has to be compared with Kaka. any player compared with him would feel such a burden.

    2. Nope nope and nope. I’ve said it in the other news comment, Kaka’s first season in Milan was magnificent. The kind of player we knew that’d make a difference. On his first season he outshined the like of Rui Costa (and Rivaldo, but this was quite understandable), scored many magical goals thru individual brilliance, even scored in his first derby. Just watch Milan Vs Deportivo that season (the 1st leg only tho, because the 2nd leg still brings me nightmare).

Please, for the sake of the player himself, stop comparing CDK with Ricardo.

  2. The people that are criticizing CDK are the same one that have criticized Theo,Tonali,Kalulu and Leao and now those that were criticized are stars for our team that won the Scudetto last season after 11 years of struggle!

    1. Absolutely, bro. I don’t know how people criticise a boy that is just 21 be patient it’s obvious the talent is their and the work ethic is there as well

  3. Def needs patience and trust. It will take time, thats what we get buying young talents and thats good. Build up the player to fit your system, style of play etc etc with room to grow even further.. What did SAF always say, get them young and mold them into what you need on the pitch but also help them grow as a preson not just the player

    1. Very true. When Pioli arrived he worked so hard to stabilise the team. And at the beginning of last season he said this season we are unleashing Leao and Tonali will have great season , truly so we saw what both players did. Why can’t we now trust him when he says CDK is on the right path and needs patience?

  4. CDK should bag 5-6 assist or more right now if Milan players didn’t wasted chances that he created from his key pass.

What Pioli said is true too. CDK is young and came from Belgian league so he definitely needs time to adapt with Italian tactics and language.

  5. Cdk needs to run more with the ball to impose himself on the pitch. He quickly pass the ball despite having alot of space in front of him. Try to run more than 15m and open up the game.

  6. What about Adli then? This coach will end up destroying the boy’s self esteem and his love for Milan with giving no minutes.

  7. Thank you mister. Tell these idiots. I see the same progress in other players as I see in CDK, has the tools now it’s to work on the match. I think pressure of the price tag made Pioli over play him but he needs time like all the great players we have now in Leao, Tonali, Theo, Kalulu etc

  8. Why can’t pioli rest him. He. Start almost every game in 5he league and champions league. He should give Aldi a chance from start too. Some players might not do well so well in training but perform during match… Aldi need a chance not 10min match play

  9. The boy is still young, and he is obviously a talented player. Kessie, Leao, Theo, and so on — we waited even though they started not so well in their first seasons. I still remember people shouting ‘Sell Leao’ when he struggled like a lot.
If Pioli and Maldini are confident regarding CDK, then I have no reason to doubt it. They proved they have good eyes for hidden talents.
