GdS: Pioli, Maldini and Massara all at risk if Milan fail key season objective

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not had a positive 2022 domestically so far and reflections will be made at the end of the season if top four is missed, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall this morning that Milan went seven games without a win starting with the 2-2 draw against Roma at home and then seemed to have recovered, but they have taken just one point from the games against Fiorentina, Salernitana and Udinese.

Qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after 11 years came after the defeat to La Viola, but finishing in the top four in Serie A is a fundamental target that Milan absolutely cannot miss out on.

As a result, everyone is under scrutiny including Stefano Pioli, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. They all have contracts for next season, but without qualification for the next edition of the Champions League they too may be at risk.

Everyone is responsible for these disappointing results as the summer transfer window seems to have failed to strengthen the squad while Pioli is not extracting the same spirit and mentality from the group that he did last season.

There is now an international break to try and get things back on course and while the dream of a run deep into the Champions League remains, the priority is to finish in the top four and nobody will be safe in the summer if that goal fails.

  1. So far the collective incompetence of Inter and Roma has saved Milan.

What worries me is Juve clearly sitting second on points.

With the appeal undetermined the only safe spot is top 3.

  2. Kick Maldini out, then we might stand a chance of signing better players, terminate Pioli contract.then Milan can build a new team

  3. By the end of next league week with Milan going vs Napoli and Juventus playing Verona, we might find ourselves only 4 points ahead of juve on the table even though they had 15 points taken away from them.
That’s how bad Milan has been this season, but luckily serie is even worse so we are still in top 4, But if they do miss top 4 everyone needs to go, starting with maldini and massara.
As much as people wanna blame Pioli, this is mostly on the other 2. In the last 2 years m&m destroyed the quality of our squad by letting our best players leave for free, losing money and not replacing them at all or bringing in players who are just a waste of money and space.
Such managerial incompetence should not be tolerate especially in a club like Milan.
Don’t care about his name and what he did as a player, Maldini being unqualified to do the job he has is only hurting Milan.

    1. “As much as people wanna blame Pioli, this is mostly on the other 2.”

The squad is 90% the same as last year yet it’s the coach & players who fail to get anything out of the players. It’s not M&M who fail to create ANY ideas how to improve our game and fix the issues. It’s Pioli who has decided to stick with the same players, same formation and the same (lack of) tactics no matter what. Win or lose, everything is the same from match to match. No matter how the opponent plays. Always the same approach.

      Pioli is to blame here.

  4. LOL.

Talking about Directors who had to work on about 50 million budget for – two transfer windows – , a Gigio who wanted the money of P$G, a Hakan who wanted to join Inter on basically the same salary because he had just won the league and pissed on loyalty, a Kessie who despite promising to ‘take care of it’ had his eyes set on Barca, and the strategy that the management made very clear – sustainability and no crazy spending?

And, without being smug bunch of Captain Hindsights, you can clearly see the logic behind their transfer decisions. Some work out, some don’t. So, let’s not get bipolar about it, shall we?
