Pioli on the No.10 role: “Bennacer can play in that position, Kessie too”

By Isak Möller -

For the start of this season, Brahim Diaz has been the only real No.10 in the squad (bar Daniel Maldini) and the Spaniard has indeed played a lot. In addition to Junior Messias, Stefano Pioli has a few more options in mind for the role.

Brahim Diaz has perhaps been the best player for Milan thus far this season and it’s not exactly a surprise that he has played a lot. However, Pioli hasn’t been able to rest the youngster as much as he would have, although Maldini scored on his full debut.

During today’s press conference, as cited by MilanNews, the manager was asked about the No.10 role and if Ismael Bennacer can play there. As said, Messias is now also available and this was reflected in the response.

“Isma can play in that position, Franck too. Tomorrow I will have Messias available for the first time, who can play both there and on the right. We need to find the best solutions for every single game,” he stated.

Diaz will remain the first choice for the role, that’s for sure, but it’s good for the manager to have options as the schedule is tight and demanding. Hopefully, Maldini will continue to grow and become the player for the future (along with Brahim).

  1. Dear sir pioli.. please don’t say that kessie could play in no 10 position. Like back then when you put meite in that 10 position.
    HE CAN’T.
Bennacer i could argue, he got a good dribbling and ball control. But not kessie, he’s a destroyer

  2. What of maldini, he can do well against low level teams before he will grow up to become big star, and we get messias too.
