Ever since Davide Calabria got injured, Alessandro Florenzi has got more and more paying time for AC Milan. In the most recent games, in fact, the experienced Italian has been a key player for the Rossoneri.
This season, the No.25 has made a total of 19 appearances for the club across all competitions (last six games from start in the league). He also missed eight games due to injury, meaning he probably could have got even more playing time.
It’s only in the last five games or so, though, that he has managed to find his groove. With the free-kick goal against Empoli, he won over the fans and it was been an upward trend since then with solid performances in both phases of the game.
Speaking during his press conference earlier today, which you can read in full here, Stefano Pioli praised Florenzi for his event performances with Milan. He also revealed the player’s favourite position.
“It took some time because he had an injury. At first, I used him a little higher, but he feels better in the full-back role. He is very intelligent, from a technical point of view he is of high level. He is a very, very flexible player, applied and useful in both phases of the team’s game,” he stated.
