Pioli heaps praise on Theo Hernandez: “The strongest left-back in the world”

Theo Hernandez was a key player for France as they finished second in the World Cup, losing to Argentina on penalties. For the left-back, it was a very positive tournament and he really proved himself.

Milan fans have known it for quite some time: Theo Hernandez is an incredible full-back, not just in attack. His defending has improved massively over the last year or so and he’s truly becoming the best in the world in his position.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport (read in full here), Milan manager Stefano Pioli stated that what everyone saw at the World Cup is simply what he and Paolo Maldini have been saying for a long time.

“With Theo, we saw what Paolo and I have been saying for a while: that he is becoming the strongest left-back in the world. They [him and Giroud] will overcome the disappointment by returning to work with us with even more determination towards new goals,” he stated.

Hernandez will now have a well-deserved vacation before returning to Milanelloo a few days before Milan’s game against Salernitana. It’s a game that he’s expected to play from the first minute in, given his importance to the team.
