AC Milan need all hands on deck and every resource available in their push for the Scudetto with options off the bench a key part of any title-challenging side.
MilanNews report that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz should all start the game on the bench as Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao and Franck Kessie should start in the centre-forward, left wing and No.10 roles respectively.
Looking at Ibrahimovic, the Swede is still not back at 100% after problems with his Achilles tendon first and then a knee overload. He has not scored since 9 January in Venezia but we know he is a constant danger for the opposing defences.
He got the assist for Sandro Tonali’s 92nd-minute goal against Lazio and with his pressing on Pietro Terracciano he forced the mistake that led to Leao’s winner against Fiorentina, showing he can make a big impact.
Rebic hasn’t started a game in Serie A since 3 October 2021 against Atalanta and he has only 2 goals in the current campaign in the league. He came off the bench against against Genoa, Lazio and Fiorentina and looked good, with the feeling being that a goal could unlock something.
Finally, Brahim Diaz’s campaign has not gone to plan and he has not scored since 25 September 2021, when he netted the winning goal against Spezia. Despite this – thanks also to the lack of a reserve attacking midfielder – Diaz has always played even if he is no longer an immovable starter, and a vital contribution could be just around the corner.
Rebic should start ON THE PITCH not on the bench.
Why not field your BEST 11 PLAYERS!???!?!?!??!
Sit Messias down and start Rebic. I want Rebic to help us score in the FIRST half and not depend on us getting goals so late. We may not be as lucky as we were against Fiorentina to have a goalkeeper give the ball straight to Leao when we play Verona.
Then nobody comes off the bench if the game does not go to plan
