Tuttosport: Pioli to give Giroud a well-earned rest against Salernitana

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli seems likely to give Olivier Giroud some rest for Monday night’s game against Salernitana, a report claims.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it), Pioli is already thinking about his selection choices for Monday’s match against Salernitana at San Siro after an exhausting Champions League last 16 tie against Spurs.

Pioli seems to be inclined towards letting Giroud catch his breath after he put in an incredible shift at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night in the 0-0 draw, with the Frenchman pressing hard from the front and covering a lot of ground.

The man chosen to replace the 36-year-old is perhaps the most natural choice in Divock Origi, who came on at Spurs and did well despite hitting the post in the dying minutes. It will be an opportunity for the Belgian centre-forward to show his space carve out more chances between now and the end of the season.

  1. Watching the spurs game made me realise bennacer, maybe pobega and tonali could use that cam position.. Keep krunic as a cm. All three are decent at long range goals. Diaz is hit and miss. Desperately need someone who can take freekicks though. Or work on moves which we saw in the first have with messias shot.
