AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has revealed that Fikayo Tomori is unlikely to make the derby against Inter after the break, while he was also asked about a potential new signing.
With Milan chasing a win to stay in the hunt for the Scudetto and Juve looking for all three points to try and claw their way towards a top four spot, but the game did not match the occasion as both sides draw a blank. The overall theme was a lack of quality from the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri in the final third when it mattered the most, with the visitors not even managing a shot on target.
Pioli spoke to the reporters who gathered for his post-match press conference after the draw against Juve and offered his thoughts on the performance and the result, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“Let’s say it wasn’t the luckiest week of our season. We didn’t have an advantage in playing without fans in these two matches, but our result was conditioned by not having obtained the three points from the previous match. We missed the goal, we created a lot but we missed the last pass, the control, the shot also due to the pitch that does not allow you to play well,” he said.
“In the last two games we have shot on goal more than 40 times, then the match happens where you are not so lucid. My forwards will be back to scoring soon.”
On Ibrahimovic: “Ibra had a tendon problem due to the hard pitch.”
Mozzart Sport in Serbia among other sources are reporting that Milan’s first January signing will be 18-year-old striker Marko Lazetic from Red Star, for €4m plus €1m in bonuses and 10% of the proceeds from a future resale, a bid which has been accepted by the Serbian side.
“When and if he arrives, I will try to understand which player he is. If the club has intervened like this, it means that he is a young player with a great prospect,” Pioli said.
Pioli also spoke to Milan TV about Fikayo Tomori, who has been out since sustaining a knee problem in the cup game against Genoa.
“We will rest for a couple of days, then we will resume work waiting to understand when we will play the derby. Tomori? It will be difficult to see him on the pitch in the derby,” he said (via MilanNews).
