Pioli praises ‘very strong’ Vlahovic amid Milan links and gives update on Rebic’s injury

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli sung the praises of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic amid some speculation that the Rossoneri could move for him.

The Florence edition of La Nazione (via Calciomercato.com) yesterday highlighted the match-up between striker Vlahovic and his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Serbia internatonal has made it clear he will not renew his contract and therefore will soon start a new adventure, and Milan seem to be interested because of Ibra’s words.

The report names the Swede as a ‘sponsor’ of the idea of signing Vlahovic from within the Rossoneri. Even before talking about his contract extension, Zlatan apparently had the opportunity to say to the management that he thinks the former Partizan Belgrade man would be ideal for the club.

Pioli was asked for his thoughts on Vlahovic – who he knows from his time at Fiorentina – during his pre-match press conference at Milanello. After, he also gave a fitness update on Ante Rebic who will not feature at the Franchi.

“Vlahovic? He has grown a lot, I coached him and he already showed he was good. He is a very strong forward,” he said (via MilanNews).

“The team is fine. Sorry for Calabria, he didn’t want to miss out since we have so many games. Rebic hit his heel in training and felt a cramp. He won’t be in the match tomorrow.”
