Pioli offers thoughts on Vranckx’s position and praises impact of Gabbia and Adli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has praised Yacine Adli’s performance in his first start last weekend, and also gave his thoughts on Aster Vranckx.

Pioli has come under fire from some fans and sections of the media for not fielding the summer signings much this season as the likes of Adli, Vranckx, Malick Thiaw and Sergino Dest have found opportunities quite hard to come by.

However, Sunday’s win over Hellas Verona saw Adli start his first game for the club after his return from being on loan at Bordeaux, while Malick Thiaw made his debut for the club and made two vital blocks, so it could be a turning point for the new recruits.

Pioli spoke to reported who gathered in the press room at Milanello for his pre-match conference early today and he spoke about a range of topics including the inclusion of new signings, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

From here to the break, will the new summer signings also be important? How are they?

“The more time passes, the more they integrate and will show when their value will be. I am happy with Adli’s performance in Verona: I think this experience has served him a lot and he will be able to do even better.”

How do you assess Vranckx?

“He’s more like Tonali than Bennacer. He has great insertion capabilities, so he can also be used later on.”

How do you rate Gabbia‘s performance ?

“He is a fantastic guy and perfect in everything. He is available, serious and polite. I am satisfied with his performances, he is always ready. He is a player ready to give us an important contribution.”
